This review of the TASKalpha series of Kyocera multi-function copiers highlights a competitve line of machines introduced by a leader in office copying. The 11 color and black & white copiers include powerful network connectivity. The 5500ci, a color copier, was very highly rated by the independent Buyers Laboratory.
In fact, Daria Hoffman, the managing editor of BLI, said this, “The Kyocera TASKalfa 5550ci proved itself a stand-out performer in our comprehensive test. It earned high scores across the board, outperforming many competitors in important areas including reliability, productivity, image quality and value.” It yielded both color and black & white drum yields in excess of 600,000 impressions each, which was more than triple that of the competition. BLI also noted the ease of network setup, a feature of significant importance to IT professionals.
This advanced series of machines are capable of bringing heretofore unknown levels of efficiency to office workflow. Plus, the high-end models can handle the volume and speed requirements of almost all Kansas City offices. For example, the 8000i is a black & white unit capable of 80 ppm. Meanwhile, the 7550ci is capable of 70 ppm in color and 75 ppm in black & white.
The touch-screen controls are elegantly designed to improve user speed and accuracy. Kyocera provides a USB hosting interface on this series of copiers that simplifies both scanning and printing. Scanning speeds are high enough to meet the rigorous demands of multi-user environments.
